Margo Shevnin is writing a book about where astrology’s meanings came from, and why they affect people anyway.
She studied marketing first — a BA in International Sales and Marketing, then an MA in Social Entrepreneurship and Management, both in Denmark — and spent years working in SEO. That is where she learned to trace a claim back to whoever first made it, and to notice when everyone is confidently repeating a source nobody has read.
She trained later in executive coaching, the goal-setting kind. Then in 2020 she found Human Design — a completely different way to decide, not with the mind at all but with the body’s own yes and no.
So she tested it on the biggest choice she could find. She left her job in London, gave up her flat, and moved back to Latvia with no plan. It wasn’t comfortable. It is also where she met her husband and found work that fit her life, and it changed how she made decisions for years afterwards.
It sent her back to coaching with new eyes, and she started building a practice around reading charts. She never got far with it. She was writing articles to support it, because she wanted to answer real questions rather than repeat what she had absorbed — and tracing the meanings back is what stopped her. They kept ending in the recent past, with a named author or a mistranslation or a committee, rather than with anything anyone had observed.
Chiron’s meaning was fixed in 1987 by a single author. In the source text, Ketu meant comets. Across twenty-four astrology books and 2,147,775 words she found myth 731 times and albedo not once. Astrology was only the first place she looked — Human Design and the Gene Keys turned out to work the same way, and in some respects more honestly.
There is a pattern underneath all the systems built on birth data, and she thinks she understands why. Your birth looks like the one exact fact about you — a date, a time, a place — so it seems like it ought to carry something. And astrology, among others, hands you a beautiful map with the descriptions already written on it.
So the practice never opened. Not because any of it is false, which was never quite the question, but because she could not have said what she was doing to the person in front of her, or how she would know if it went wrong.
Where those descriptions came from, and what they do to a person who believes them, is the book.
Margo's backbone is a certificate in Executive Coaching and Mentoring from the University of the West of England, studied in liaison with HumanTechnics.
She also holds an MA in Social Entrepreneurship and Management from Roskilde University, Denmark, and a BA in International Sales and Marketing from the Zealand Academy of Technologies and Business in Roskilde. Before this work, she spent years inside large international organisations.
She has studied Human Design from Ra Uru Hu’s original material since 2020. Her astrology is self-taught, built on a specialist library — Steven Forrest, Jeff Green, Ray Idemon, Ronald Davison and Dane Rudhyar among them — which is also the library she later counted.
She holds no astrological certification, and the book explains at length why she now thinks that matters less than it appears to.
